I woke up this morning, and I knew it had gotten me. The swine flu. I sniffled and coughed and sneezed while contemplating whether it was worth it to get up, or if I should just sleep all day. But eventually I did get up, and I wondered, what should I wear? When I get sick, I resist the urge to pull on sweats and a big sweater, comfortable and miserable as I may be. Slumming around, tissues in hand, would just be giving in to my sickness, it would make me look and feel even more miserable than I already am. So, since it was a beautifully brisk, cloudy day, I pulled out my little leopard faux fur coat from when I was about 6, strung a necklace into a headband, and thumbed my sartorial nose at the swine flu. Sure, I still looked pretty miserable and sickly, but at least I wasn’t caving into my urge to wear a big Stanford sweatshirt.

Wearing: old leopard print coat, Imitation shirt, vintage necklace as headband, vintage leather skirt, Givenchy lace booties
Soundtrack of the day: Pink Stones by Memory Tapes

Hugs,
